Moving website to other server -> DISASTER

Today, moving a webproject from one server to another.

Using php 7.3 on new server (old server 7.x)

It works, only when trying login: the typically error: ENABLE JAVASCRIPT....

Okay,
Plan B:
remove website on new server and upload a new empty Automad-website
Now problem do that!
After that replacing the folders: PACKAGES and PAGES .
Problem: a lot of images and pages doesn't work anymore

PLAN C:
At the moment, try download and upload again the website with FileZilla in Binary-mode :-(

The best way is the first method, but can someone tell me SOLVE the Javascript problem!!!!!
What file replace for solving this error!!!

When start the new server with a clean, new Automad install, what are the folders and files i can upload from my webproject so doesn't broken?

Of course you have to move all folders. And of course in binary mode. That’s pretty much the case for all CMS. I think the headline is therefore quite misleading.

To elaborate a bit more on this: FileZilla tries by default to convert files (especially their line endings) when moving from Windows to Unix machines. This will in most cases corrupt minified JavaScript files. So to be very clear about this, the copy is not a real copy. It’s a modified broken copy. FileZilla does a really bad job by default and when you search on Google for that issue you will find many people with similar problems.

A corrupted JS file will not work correctly and therefore the dashboard throws this JS error you mentioned, because the JS test will fail. When you open the browser's console you will see which file is actually corrupted.

I really can only recommend not to use FileZilla in a professional environment. There are many other and better programs to tranfer files to a server. Cyberduck is just one example.

Just stumbled upon this thread. Would not recommend to use FTP to migrate a site. Instead if you have a cPanel account head over to File Manager and upload your site as .zip of better .gzip into your public directory than expand the compressed file. Also make sure you include hidden files which is not default on OSX (could make complications especially with .htaccess and others). Anyway.. might help.

Hello to everybody, my case is very similar but I already do both things, a clean install and move the site to my hosting, the site works great but i can't login into the dashboard. I verify all transfers where done in binary mode, so I don't have any idea what else may causing this problem, do i need to change some config file?
