Active theme and sharing data/settings

Hello,

When activate a theme then other themes/templates are also still accessible.
What is the purpose for an active theme?

Can i adding shared data/settings in the dashboard? Or is it only possible adding shared data.txt in the 'shared' folder? The same why i don't understand how an 'active' theme works. When changing a theme i see nothing changed.
Test this by adding text in the textfield 'Text Teaser' and then change a theme, noting changed in this field.

Reading the docs about shared content https://automad.org/user-guide/shared-content, understanding the concept, but where adding this content? It's a bit confused.

Hi,

the idea is that different themes can have templates with a corresponding naming scheme. Therefore it is possible to change the design of all pages by just switching the active theme in the Shared Data & Files section, as long as the new active theme has the same template names as the previous one.

Shared content can be entered in the same Shared Data & Files section in the Dashboard below the Main Theme selection. But it has nothing to do with the active main theme, except that all those settings in that section apply to the whole website.
