I just followed the manual installation guide. Getting to the "installation succesful" screen. If I click "Dashboard" I'm taken to the page where I can create a user. Filling in the form and downloading the "accounts.php" file which I manually upload to the config folder of my Automad installation. Changes permissions to 777 on all files and folders. When I return to my site and want to login , I'm taken til the username/password form. Fills in the username/password of the user I just created. When I click "log in" nothing happens. I simply return to the login page without any error messages. Why can't I log in? I'm using a Mac to upload all files using Filezilla. My site is hosted in a subfolder on another domain. Perhaps this is the culprit? I have enabled debug messages in config.json. Take a look in the console when visiting http://www.programmingforgraphicdesigners.com for further clues. Hope you can help me beyond this initial hurdle. Really eager to give Automad a spin! Looks awesome.

stixan Hi there, could you please check in your browser‘s console for any errors. My first guess was that there is a problem with the installation being transferred using FileZilla. As mentioned already in other posts in the forum, FileZilla is known to corrupt JS files on transfer when not being configured to transfer files in binary mode.

Thank you for a quick reply. I've uploaded a fresh installation using binary transfer mode in Filezilla and created a new accounts.php which I've also uploaded using binary transfer. Still can't login. In addition I'm also now receiving a warning (in Chrome) saying "Resource interpreted as Document but transferred with MIME type application/octet-stream." stixan Sorry to hear that you have those issue. The log looks normal to me. Is there still no error message showing up?

Yes. Unfortunately the issue persist. As a test I have gone ahead and Installed XAMPP on my Mac and installed a local version of Automad. It ran straight out of the box, no problems at all. Weird. No javascript errors, no security warnings in my browser or signs of possibly corrupted files. It must be something related to the setup on my web host and/or the some settings in Automad. Any idea on how I can do some further investigation to isolate the problem?

I really appreciate you fast response. Hopefully we can solve this problem and save others with similar problems the hazzle of figuring it out.

Same problem here. Can't login. When I try a wrong password Automad notifies me. But when entering the correct password nothing happens. The page seems to reload. Running on PHP 5.6.25. Could that be the problem?

holsen Hi there, how did you install the cms? While I don't think that the PHP version is the issue here I can only recommend upgrading PHP asap. PHP 8 is out already a while and should be used instead.

I just upload automad using WinSCP in binary mode. Is there any way to debug this?

holsen Hi, can you delete the old accounts file and create a new one using the installation online? Just to make sure there is no issue with the locally created file.

Upgrading to PHP 7.3.20 and recreating the accounts.php seems to have solved the problem.

First thanks for Automad, i love it. Unfortunately I have the same problem after registering, I loaded the "accounts.php" file into the config directory. When logging in, the error message "invalid username or password" came up. After trying several times, I found that accounts.php has no content. Is there a solution to the problem?

I think that was a manageable problem. After updating MAMP and running Automad locally, I pushed MAMP's accounts.php to the server. Voila, problem fixed.

Now I just have to find my way around in Automad.
