Composer - How To?

Hi All, sorry for being a bit elementary with my questions. I am fairly new to Automad. I would like to expand its capabilities with the packages (extensions) available. I read the instructions about how to do these in principle. One option is by Composer taking car of dependables and the other copying files into the package directory. I would like to go by the Composer.

My system is iOS and have the 1.5.1 version of AM installed.

I see a composer directory in the vendor directory. Does this mean that Composer came with the AM bundled and installed? If so, how can I use it, really actually running it? I realize that it would require applying some command line instruction. Please explain where these should be issued? I tried the Terminal window of my iMac but that did not recognize these command (expected).

docman Hi there! That’s a good choice. Composer is not bundled with a default installation. However — you can install themes directly in the dashboard. So you don’t have to install them manually.
Other extensions have to be installed using Composer. Therefore Composer has to be installed on your system.

Hi Mad, many thanks for your prompt reply. Actually, I was aware of the fact that I can install templates via the Dashboard. So I did.

Well, Composer seems a bit more complicated. I try. Still, is I see a composer folder within the vendor folder of the AM installation, would this not mean that Composer is actually installed already?

docman Hi, that folder doesn’t contain the Composer phar. Composer is an application and is not part of the installation. You have to install it yourself.
