Access to a directory external to Automad

Hey everybody!
I have installed Automad in my website root, where I also have a custom directory with its own HTML files.
If I try to access to that folder, unfortunately, I see the 404 error in Automad.
I tried to bypass this, adding a rewriting rule in my .htaccess, but it doesn't work properly or the code I found on the web is not the correct regex condition.

Could anyone help me to achieve this?

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

That's pretty simple: if I try to access to any personal /folder/ in the root that isn't part of Automad, I can't see its content but instead it results in a 404 error, since any URL is parsed by Automad.
I'd like to make some exception (I guess through the .htaccess) to say "okay, parse everything through Automad, except these folders names".

You can place a piece of PHP code in each page theme file that would check the url and compare it with a list of urls that you'd like to load from external folder. On a match the file would be included and further execution stopped. This way you could load html files from your folder while still retaining Automad functionality, though it's somewhat hacky.

I actually achieved this by changing the root .htaccess.
I write it here for reference if anyone needs it.
