Adding social media links to a page or navbar / footer

Hi, I am new to Automad and I am using the default Light theme.

I would simply like to add links from my website to my Instagram and Twitter accounts. I have read the docs and searched the discussion forum but I cannot find any help around this area? Which worries me because this usually means I am missing a fundamental and I apologise now.

How best can I add the icons and link to a page, or in the navbar (like the Automad site top right), or in the footer?

I can add icon/code within a page using a snippet, is that the right way?

grahamburt Hi there. You can add a new page for each link and put the external URL in the redirect URL field in the page settings. Such a page will serve then as an alias. The icon is a bit more difficult to add. Such functionality has to be provided by the theme itself. The Standard theme is maybe a bit basic in that sense. But I think it is easily possible to include that option in the upcoming release. 🙂

Ah yes ok, thank you I will try that. Thanks for the heads up about the upcoming release, I will not worry about changing the theme too soon.
