  • Where to place <link rel="canonical" href="https://site.com" />

I created a <head> tag in my header area and placed the canonical link there.

I inspected the page source and found two <head> tags. I don't think this is a good idea, is it?!

Can you please tell a non-technical person how to get my canonical link into the <head> tag that is already there at the top of the page in the source?

john Hi there. There are two options to add such a tag:

    1. You can edit the template directly and place the tag wherever you want
    2. You can add the tag to the Items Header variable in the dashboard

    Hope that helps!

Many thanks! I think option 2 will create a second <head> tag on each page. You don't think that's a problem to have two head tags on each page? (I hope not, because that's what I'll probably do).

john Hi, option 2 doesn’t create a second <head> tag. It only adds content to the header section by using a normal variable.
